rain boots and books

Its getting colder and colder day by day as we’re maneuvering into autumn..

I had a good sleep Saturday morning and awoke to the sound of rain tapping on the window… I’ve been finding myself spending a lot of time indoors lately since it’s been raining nonstop this entire week. Because of this, I’ve been thinking of ways to entertain myself when I can’t go out to walk around so I visited the local library that recently opened in the area. It’s located right next to Kuroiso station and just opened in September! It has a woodsy exterior with enormous windows, and when walking inside it almost felt like entering an art exhibit because of how modern and creative the atmosphere is designed. There’s plenty of space for people to scatter themselves to enjoy a nice book or magazine, and there’s even a café inside for people to enjoy tea to complement their visit.

We were only permitted one hour due to covid restrictions so I spent my limited time looking through bookshelf after bookshelf to see the extensive selection of books they have. This library will be my new go to place on cold rainy days like this!

Later I visited a small coffee shop called Sora Café for a little afternoon tea. I had a warm cup of matcha milk and some homemade cheesecake. It’s a fairly small place owned by a lovely lady and her cat. The place has soothing guitar bgm and stacks of books on every wall possible. It’s a great place for people to spend time quietly reading or to have coffee with friends. I spent the rest of the afternoon reading and writing this entry while being accompanied by some cute grannies enjoying their coffee break. The place is located in a quiet ally in the neighborhood so it’s perfect for a small escape from daily stress. ( much needed for myself!) For a small place it’s very well known by the people here and now I know why this is so!

Despite the gloomy weather it was a lovely afternoon well spent. Hopefully the autumn leaves show themselves soon before the freezing cold winter hits Nasushiobara!
