exploring bath
I hope you’re all having a great start to the new year :)
I’ve gotten back to work after a nice and slow Christmas holiday and am finally easing my way back into the everyday routine. A week of relaxing and spending time away from the computer screen was great- I wish I could reverse time and have another week of it! I spent a lot of time at home watching Christmas movies, sleeping in, and eating all the food my talented friends and flatmates cooked which made the holidays all the more better. On my last day of the holidays, I tagged along on a fun day trip to Bath with my housemate Tiago and his lovely siblings, Quézia and Filipe, who were visiting for the holidays :)
We arrived to Bath mid morning and spent the whole day walking around the city. We were lucky to have the sun out while we were there since we spent most of the time walking about the city. We walked through the city centre, visited Bath Abbey - a beautiful cathedral right next to the Roman Baths, and walked around the Circus and Pulteney Bridge - a cute bridge consisting of little shops and cafes that goes over the River Avon. We also looked around some charity shops, stumbled upon a very nice bookshop, and had an obligatory pub stop for Filipe 😂
Overall, we loved Bath- with its hilly streets filled with beautiful buildings, little hidden alleyways between the main roads, and picturesque cafes and coffee shops scattered throughout the city. It was a great day trip from Oxford and despite only being a 2 hour drive away, it was different and unique from my everyday views of Oxford. It was also a great way to end my winter break and that too with great company! I hope I get to explore some more of the UK this year since I haven’t seen a lot yet, but Bath was a great location to start my year of travels :) I highly recommend visiting if you haven’t already.
