Book review #1 after you

- Jojo Moyes

This sequel to Me Before You tells the story of Lou after the planned death of Will Traynor, the quadriplegic Lou had taken care of until the very final day he took his own life. After she returned from her trip around Europe, she takes on a job at the airport pub where she spends her days taking orders and cleaning toilets under her irritating boss. She’s lost in life, not knowing how to pick herself up with the emptiness she feels after Will’s death. Earlier on in the book she falls off her own apartment roof, unintentionally meeting her future love in the process of recovery.

On the day she fell, she heard a girl’s voice calling for her. That girl appeared to be Will’s long lost daughter, someone he hadn’t mentioned a single word of to Lou because he himself had no idea of her existence. Her name is Lily, and she’s a walking train wreck; highly volatile, with the ability of speaking her opinion rocket clear. She drags Lou into all kinds of problems, from heavy drunken nights to suddenly disappearing for a few days straight. Despite all the rampage, Lou deeply cares about Lily and holds accountability in taking care of her.

I’m not going to tell you all the details about the colorful adventurous events that happen in the book but Moyes will take you an emotionally beautiful journey through the story of Lou finding closure with Will and slowly moving on to rebuild her own life. You’ll also resonate with Lily as she draws out the silhouette of her father she never met through stories told by Lou and Will’s parents.

If you’re looking for a book that will keep your imagination busy or even a small escape from the daily routine of sitting at home, this book is for you! It’s a quick read and a page turner that will fill your heart with love, bitter sweetness, and a big smile on your face. Lou’s story doesn’t end with this book; it leads to Moyes finale to the series which I’ll post a review of later on.

I hope everyone has a great day and cheers to more reading adventures ahead!
